West Australia bans exchange betting

In a recent decision, the province of Western Australia will not allow betting exchanges to use race data of races held in its territory for business purposes. In other words, it will not allow exchange betting on its races.

According to the authorities, the ban is made to protect the integrity of its races. Only licensed persons are permitted to make ‘lay’ bets that a participant in a race will not be successful. The authorities rejects the idea of individuals proposing bets on horses to lose through an exchange.
