New official website on UK gaming transition

The Gaming Board for Great Britain launched a new website to provide information about the transition from the Gaming Board to the Gambling Commission. It includes an introduction to the Gambling Commission and outlines the programme of industry consultation.

The Commission will take over the Gaming Board's current role of regulating gaming and certain lotteries. It will also have responsibility for the regulation of betting and remote gambling, and will play an important role in combating problem gambling.

The Commission will be formally established in autumn 2005. Until then, the Gaming Board will continue to carry out its functions under existing gambling legislation.

Stakeholders are invited to submit comments on the transition by 29 July 2005 to the Gaming Board Transition Team and can register for receiving online updates.
