The Irish Champion Stakes proved to be a close contest, with Auguste Rodin defeating LUXEMBOURG (IRE) [123] by a half-length. NASHWA (GB) [121] was a short head back in third, while KING OF STEEL (USA) [121] was another half-length back in fourth. As a result of his victory, Auguste Rodin improved his rating to 124 from 122. Earlier this season, the Deep Impact colt won the Betfred Derby (G1) and Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby (G1).

King of Steel, who finished second in the Derby at Epsom, also improved his rating following the Irish Champion Stakes, rising to 121 from 120. This season, King of Steel also won the King Edward VII Stakes (G2) and finished third behind HUKUM (IRE) [128] in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes (G1).

Furthermore, Nashwa joins the rankings following her recent efforts. In addition to finishing third against Auguste Rodin in Ireland, Nashwa also finished second by a length to MOSTAHDAF (IRE) [128] in the Juddmonte International Stakes (G1) in her previous start. In July, Nashwa took the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes (G1).

Another newcomer to the rankings this month is ARCANGELO (USA) [121], who won the Travers Stakes (G1) by a length to notch his fourth consecutive victory. Arcangelo came into the race having won the Belmont Stakes presented by NYRA Bets (G1) in his previous start, and he also won the Peter Pan Stakes (G3) earlier this season.
