Racetracks bid for Massachusetts casino licenses

Each of the four racetrack operators in Massachusetts are said to bid for the three proposed commercial gaming licenses. These tracks are Raynham Park, Plainridge Racecourse, Suffolk Downs and Wonderland Greyhound Park.

The licenses will allow the operator during 10-year licenses to operate a resort casino. The license will not allow the operation of slot machines at the racetrack, which remains forbidden in the state.

The licenses, which are expected to cost around $200 million, are not meant to the financial prospects of racetracks but to attract new tourists to the state.
