Challange to Australian Race Field legislation

A bookmaker is challanging the new legislation in New South Wales, according to which betting operators have to pay a fee for using race fields (data).

The new legislation, which came into force on 1 September, imposes a fee on the level of 1,5% of betting turnover. One bookmaker now claims that this levy is not due for telephone betting. According to him, race fields are, and cannot be published over the telephone and this levy is thefore not due.
