Triple Crown effect on betting volume

The fact that there was no possibility for a Triple Crown this year seemed to have had a negative impact on Nort American betting figures.

According to figures released by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association and Equibase, the second quarter of the year showed a 3.8% decline in betting turnover in North America compared to the 2nd QTR of 2004. 2nd QTR turnover was US$ 4B compared to US$ 4,15 last year.

The amount of race days in the 2nd QTR also declined by 2.16% from 1,806 last year to 1,767 this year.
