Launch new Irish racing website

GORACING.IE, the new Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) website, was launched today, Monday 5th March, giving Irish horse-racing followers a major new resource to keep up-to-date, entertained and engaged with the sport.

Key features of the site include daily racing news, special weekend previews and reviews, complete racecard and results information and a comprehensive statistics section.

Brian Kavanagh, HRI’s Chief Executive said: “We set out to provide a website which would serve every type of user, from casual racegoers to industry professionals. The statistics section opens up HRI’s vast resources of racing data which will prove enjoyable and practical for everyone with an interest in the sport”.

Other features of the site include:

  • Information and links for Ireland’s 27 racecourses, with upcoming fixtures, contact details and on-line ticket purchase for the major tracks.
  • A ‘Stars of the Turf’ section with profiles of horses, jockeys and trainers, which will be added to and updated regularly.
  • The Press Office, with a searchable archive of news from 2002 to the present.
  • A guide to racehorse ownership, including a ‘design your own colours’ facility.
  • Full information on HRI’s functions and structures, with access to major corporate reports and publications.
  • An option to register for a free weekly email racing newsletter.

The site will be upgraded in a series of phased developments in 2007 to provide new content and features including overseas form, audio and video streams and greater interactivity for users.
