Hong Kong-based LUCKY SWEYNESSE (NZ) [124], who is undefeated in five starts this year, has moved into the co-third position in the third edition of the LONGINES World’s Best Racehorse Rankings for 2023.

Lucky Sweynesse improved his rating to 124 from 123 with his 3 1/4-length victory in the Chairman’s Sprint Prize (G1). The gelding’s other wins this year include the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup (G1), Centenary Sprint Cup (G1), Sprint Cup (G2), and Chinese Club Challenge Cup (G3).

 

Elsewhere, a quintet of horses received a rating of 120 in the past month. GIGA KICK (AUS) [120] raised his rating to 120 from 119 after winning the Schweppes All Aged Stakes (G1) by 1 ½ lengths. IRESINE (FR) [120] joins the rankings after taking the Prix Ganay (G1) by 1 ¼ lengths. MUTASAABEQ (GB) [120] impressed with his three-length score in the bet365 Mile (G2). SOL ORIENS (JPN) [120] proved victorious in the Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas) (G1), which he won by 1 ¼ lengths. Rounding out the group is UP TO THE MARK (USA) [120], who won the Old Forester Bourbon Turf Classic Stakes (G1) by 3 ¾ lengths on the Kentucky Derby undercard.

 

Also joining the rankings after impressing at Churchill Downs that day are CODY’S WISH (USA) [119], who took the Churchill Downs Stakes presented by Ford (G1) by 4 ¾ lengths, and MAGE (USA) [119], who won the Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) by a length.

 

Additionally, three other horses have also joined the rankings with a rating of 119. CHALDEAN (GB) [119] won the Qipco 2000 Guineas Stakes (G1) by 1 ¾ at Newmarket, while a day earlier HURRICANE LANE (IRE) [119] impressed there with a six-length victory in the Jockey Club Stakes (G2). Furthermore, in Japan, JUSTIN PALACE (JPN) [119] earned his rating when he took the Tenno Sho (Spring) (G1) by 2 ½ lengths.
