Florida law on transparency of bloodstock sales

The US state of Florida passed a law that gives a state agency the right to examine conditions of sales and adopt rules to “prevent unfair or deceptive trade practices”. The authorities will set new rules on relevant ownership, dual agency; medical and surgical disclosures and will likely make a written bill of sale mandatory.

The law, which covers both public and private horse sales in the state of Florida, aims to prevent deceptive practices and the agency will introduce new remedies in case of breach of law. A similar law was passed earlier this year by the state of Kentucky
